Description
This is a beautiful and striking Haitian Voodoo Banner signed with well-known artist George Valris signature pearl-like beads. I bought it on EBAY from another reseller about 8 years ago for $1000 and have thoroughly enjoyed it but am moving on. It's never been cleaned - I'm not sure if voodoo banners can be cleaned. The bottom left hand corner of the outside black satin border has some fading/discoloration (see picture). This could be easily be replaced. While this has never been in direct sunlight, the yellow and pink iridescent sequins (border and background) have faded. This is a powerful piece and would make a wonderful addition to the serious collector. It is averages 35" tall and 43" wide. Haitian voodoo banners are uneven so this is approximate. Art with sequins should not be displayed in direct sunlight to avoid unnecessary fading. If you are interested in George Valris, there is information about him on the internet. Google his name. According to what I've read, he is a devout Catholic who does not believe in Voodoo but uses traditional images in this wonderful and vibrant art form. He was born in 1953 and is still producing banners. Please only purchase this if you want it. It does have some fading that can be seen in the photos but remains a wonderful piece. I can only accept a return for good reasons. I will ship ground unless you want to pay more to make it arrive faster.
